Following up last season’s 1940s inspired glamour, Marc Jacobs took a turn to more eclectic territory with his spring-summer 2016 collection. Held at the Ziegfeld Theatre, Jacobs hosted his very own red carpet with models strutting down the runway to only stop, and take a quick turn at a step and repeat. Like many of the designer’s collections, there was not one main theme but instead an amalgamation of references and eras.
There was the 40s of last season in the form of glittering and ladylike gowns, 80s chic pieces with a sporty edge and finally a reference to 90s grunge with plaid separates. For beauty, makeup artist Francois Nars gave the models night out looks with blue eyeshadow and a sweaty sheen, while hair (courtesy of Guido Palau) embraced an messy updo complete with glittering hair combs.
