Loud, bold and in your face have become the main words to describe the Marc by Marc Jacobs girl under designers Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier. For the fall-winter 2015 collection, the pair looked at revolutionaries for inspiration. Sometimes, the theme was more literal with the words “solidarity”, “suffrage” and “unite” splashed across pieces in brash letters while other times it was more subtle like mens-inspired shoes decorated with studs. The Marc by Marc Jacobs girl is complex, with layers of clothing including plaid, skirts lined with crinoline and even belts attached with bags. Why just wear a pretty dress when you can layer it over a printed blouse? And isn’t that what rebellion is all about?
