During the spring runway previews, quite a few Black models showed off their natural textures on the catwalk. With many models of color talking about the pressure to straighten their locks, it appears change is hitting the industry as more models ditch straightening and extensions for their natural hairstyles.

Rising stars like Lineisy Montero and Imaan Hammam are already appearing on major covers like Teen Vogue and i-D, while established models such as Ajak Deng have been rocking their afro-textures for years. Check out some natural hair inspiration below from fashion’s top Black models.

Sudanese born model Ajak Deng is known for killer bone structure and cropped natural hairstyle. In the past, she even went platinum blonde! Deng has walked the runways of Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and other top brands. This natural-haired beauty has also starred in Calvin Klein, Gap, and Louis Vuitton campaigns.

Dutch model Imaan Hammam has made her natural curls a staple on the runway. In 2015, she landed her own Teen Vogue cover and her star only continues to rise. Hitting the catwalk for Chanel, Valentino, and Versace, Imaan stands out with her natural hairstyle.

A model from Martinique, Karly Loyce, had her first major advertisement when she landed a spot in Celine’s fall 2015 campaign. Sporting an afro, the natural haired beauty has gone on to walk the runway for fashion labels such as Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana.

Dominican stunner Lineisy Montero is another model who rocks an afro on the runway. She has appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue in 2015 and even landed two Prada campaigns for the same year.

Angola-born model Maria Borges made headlines when she decided to wear a natural hairstyle on the 15 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway. Previously, she wore her hair straight, but it was Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci who requested she cut her hair. And we have to say it looks great!
