Net-a-Porter Gets Sporty–Online luxury retailer Net-a-Porter is set to launch an activewear section, Net-a-Sporter, focusing on chic activewear, reports Style.com. Net-a-Porter president Alison Leohnis spoke to The Telegraph about the new venture, “The initial idea for Net-a-sporter only came about six months ago … We already carry some great activewear brands, such as Adidas by Stella McCartney, Lucas Hugh and NIKE and we wanted to build on our offering and broaden our buy to create a dedicated category for sport. We did a lot of research with our customer base and discovered that there is an increasing desire for all things fitness-related and that women across the world are becoming more and more active.”
So what can workout enthusiasts expect to see at Net-a-Sporter? Think wearable athletic tech like Jawbone bracelets, dancewear, exclusive capsule collections and even a special ‘après sport’ category for ladies who don’t let their workout to get in their way of looking stylish and chic. The new section is set to launch on July 9th.
Edit: A previous version of this story stated a separate site would be created to house activewear. Activewear will still be maintained under Net-a-Porter proper–in a Sport section.
