Earlier this week, it was revealed that Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia will take over from Peter Copping as Oscar de la Renta’s creative directors. For the brand’s spring 2017 collection, the in-house design team made an outing of classic de la Renta shapes. (Kim and Fernando’s first collection will be unveiled for fall 2017.) The show opened with a series of loose and swinging dresses in white with long sleeves and cinched belts.
A series of red dresses and printed separates injected some color into the collection. When looking to show a little bit of skin, the de la Renta woman wears cropped tops and pleated skirts. For evening wear, gowns are detailed with shimming fringe, sequins and gold embroidery. Each look is paired with bejeweled and open-toed sandals for a relaxed touch.
