Prada’s spring 2011 collection finds inspiration in early twentieth century jazz with flapper style dresses and banana motifs reminiscent of Josephine Baker’s iconic costume. Bringing a sense of modernity to the retro influences, stripes, bold color and latin motifs took to the runway in full force, bringing a sense of drama to Milan Fashion Week.
Wow I like the all blue! Blue top, bottom and blue purse =D
I see trompe l’oeil!!!
Can we be realistic here? If a different, lesser-known designer/brand were to create half the looks seen in this collection, they would be mocked and laughed out of the building. The orange dress right below the description of the post looks like glorified penitentiary clothing and the look below that looks like nurses’ scrubs.
Prada continues to bend the rules and push past the norm. It is a great collection overall, but some of the looks seem to only go over well because of the name attached to them.
that same argument can be used for so many things: art, photography….
i totally agree sometimes people like things just because of the signature
The cut is really bad. They are absolutely the most unflattering apparel a woman can have in her entire wardrobe.
Who cares if its not wearable… It’s art. Art isn’t always beautiful or pretty or pompous, or perfect. Art makes you think and is suppose to capture a mood or make you feel something from an aesthetic. Without Prada, Balenciaga, and McQueen… there would be nothing to look forward to each year. They’re the ones that push boundaries, set tones and moods and shapes and colors, and inspiration season after season….. without a care as to what buyers may think. I thought it was genius and new and fresh… and no… not necessarily wearable, but still incredibly forward thinking. Needless to say I’m sure every single editor in the fashion world will have their hands on either one of the bags, the shoes, the sunglasses or the fur come spring.
Art? Hawaiian shirts, mumus and hospital scrubs for $1000+ a piece are art?
yeahhhhhh… it’s not about art it’s about making money.

Lets get realistic here for a second, this is a horrible collection. Miuccia made overpriced Hawaiian shirts, cuz thats exactly what they are. Unflattering and plain ridiculous. Just because its Prada, doesnt mean its good.
I have to agree usually I love the prada’s collections but this one is just…..too much I like some of the looks but thats really like 2-3 looks. Not impressed this time prada
What´s with the bananas…?
fucking awesome!
fucking awesome!
no…

this collection is so hideous i’m very disappointed

I was very disappointed with this collection!!! I was looking forward to viewing the character that Miuccia usually creates, but this collection fell extremely flat for me.
