Before the much buzzed about finale featuring Derek Zoolander and Hansel aka as Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli presented their vision for the fall-winter 2015 season. Inspired by artists and their muses–Gustiv Klimt and Emilie Flöge as well as David Hockney and his muse—Celia Birtwell—the presentation embraced a color palette of black and white for much of its looks.
Optical prints like stripes and checkerboard squares embellished long dresses while layered ruffles added a more romantic look to mini styles. On the more casual side, the Valentino woman wore pullovers layered over gilded lace dresses. When Chiuri and Piccioli did embrace color, it was for maximum impact with lavish prints that were Byzantine inspire.
