American photographer Steven Meisel has captured Vogue Italia’s covers since 1988, and with the magazine’s June 2015 issue that exclusive run has come to an end. With an issue dedicated to China, the four different covers were captured by Mert & Marcus, Craig McDean, Steven Klein and Mario Sorrenti and all feature Chinese models. Although Meisel’s name is noticeably absent from the list, in an interview with WWD, editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani notes that Vogue Italia will continue to work with the photographer and even mentioned a future cover that he will shoot. Meisel has been known to shoot high concept spreads tackling concepts like a funeral, oil spill, and home shopping much like the Big W Catalogue. He also helped make the careers of many notable models with his work.
