Chanel Iman takes a trip to tropical forests for Rosa Cha’s most recent advertising campaign. Last time we saw the American beauty, she was wearing fall fashions in an Elle Italia shoot, and now she looks ready for warmer weather in the Brazilian label’s spring 2011 campaign. Photographed by Gui Paganini and with retouching by Alex Wink of Studio AW, Chanel dons the label’s colorful swimsuits, casual wear and lingerie.

  1. I find it interesting that the retoucher was named. Are they trying to become as well known as photographers or models now too?

    • Two possible reasons:

A lot of international publications list them, just as you would make-up artist, stylist, photographer, etc. They are essential to images, so Rosa Cha might’ve done it for that.

Some publications also credit them when no money is involved. So it’s possible this was retouched for free but for a credit. I doubt this, since it’s a campaign (which pays a lot more money than editorial) but anything’s possible.

  2. I just don’t like her mouth, and her body is so skinny! I know she is a nice girl, but I have no pleasure to watch her on the photographs.

  4. where is the good old days naomi when you need her? Chanel has no sex appeal and those swimsuits are therefore undermined. I personally would much rather see a sexy confident swimwear model than a skinny, bland- blank -faced model. And I am a woman:)

    • I agree. I think Chanel is quite beautiful, but she doesn’t have the sex appeal to wear these.

On the other hand, Rosa Cha might be going for a non-sexy look, opting for just a regular young ‘girl-next-door’ (albeit one who is like 90 lbs.) It all comes down to marketing.

  5. the photos that she’s bend look so bad like she has cramps or something and that poker face… I truly wish , she would be more versatile.

  7. Chanel just looks awkward in photos. Her face is literally exactly the same, and there is no life in her eyes. She has such beautiful and long body, but zero utilization for it.

  9. She is just too straight for this type of campaign. I really do not understand why first Victorias Secret and now Rosa Cha would choose a girl with no curves. She is hunched over in each shot to create curves and help create some cleavage, chicken cutlets aren’t miracle workers. When she first arrived on the scene I thought she would marketed as the baby doll Gemma Ward look. That makes more sense then this direction.

  10. sexy isn’t really Chanel Iman’s thing. an A or AA or other small cup size woman can still be super sexy. Chanel Iman just isn’t selling it to me. also why is her mouth always open?

  11. She has a nice body, but look at her face in the shot below the pants, brown bag and bandeau frame. It’s strained and awkward.

She looks lovely in most of her eds/campaigns though. I blame the photographer or whoever chose the shots. Rosa Cha is a top dog and this is so bland. Swimwear is such a boring market. Every year I spend weeks looking for just one cool set or piece. They’re either too boring, too frumpy, too embelished, too complicated or too expensive. Why aren’t there more anologies to fashion in genereal in swimwear?

  13. The high waisted pants made me want to feed her; then I saw the two bathing suit shots that followed and I heard my stomache growl; then I saw her in the lingerie and completely lost my appetite. EAT SOMETHING!

  15. chanel has beautiful skin and is generally a nice looking girl. having said that, i think she is more of a runway model than anything else – which is evident by the fact that she has almost one facial expression in every frame. she has no appeal to me in this shoot as a swimsuit model because it made me think these two things over and over: “where are the curves that should really showcase this swimsuit/lingerie?” and “wow, she is really thin”. that’s not something you should want people to think looking at a shoot like this. just saying.

  16. … do you people realize that all your “eat something, skinny girl!” nonsense is just as insulting and disgusting as telling overweight people to put down the food? either way, you’re telling someone they’re gross, exacerbating extremes on both sides of the spectrum? perhaps you’re jealous that you yourself can’t help but gorge yourself on food, can’t motivate yourself to get off the sofa and jog around the block, and compensate for this by criticizing others? perhaps you’re sad that you’re average? perhaps you’re not intelligent enough to realize that some people have naturally higher metabolisms and can eat all the cheeseburgers they want and never gain weight? it’s hilarious that people who have absolutely no frame of reference are so quick to judge others – you know nothing about the shoot, how many expressions she made during it, what her eating habits are, and the fact that the editor chose these particular shots means she’s “fucking horrible” … lets see you do a better job. maybe put down the pasta sandwich and go for a run.

    • you’re assuming too much from a simple comment for her to eat;) don’t get too worked up. life’s like that. indeed overweight people need to put down their food and underweight models doing lingerie ads would look better if they were less bony, whether they have already been eating very little/a lot or not. whether these overweight people have naturally lower metabolisms and these underweight models have naturally higher metabolisms don’t change the fact that they would have looked better with more/less weight. and even if she’s already eating a lot, it’s a comment to indicate that she would looked better if she ate more. and yes, it’s possible if you tried. i’m not sure if you have it your country but Ensure does wonders.
