Summer RevisitedMert & Marcus pay homage to a 1989 Steven Meisel shoot with their latest work for Vogue Paris’ June-July cover shoot. Starring Isabeli Fontana as an oversexed beauty, the images celebrate what the French call canicule–a period of the hottest summer days. Styled by editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt in colorful pieces from the likes of Prada, Moschino and Emilio Pucci, Isabeli steams up M&M’s lens with male model Clément Chabernaud by her side.

  1. i dont understand why she has to be wearing a cross. it’s such a mockery to the name and sacrifice of Jesus.

      • Where did the reference to Cuba come from? The spread is called Canicule, and as the description mentions, it means an extremely hot period during the summer. Besides, the use of a cross is simply for the aesthetics of it; it’s not like people are complaining about the use of leather because it might not be in line with other religions’ views. I’m sure that Emmanuelle Alt wasn’t trying mock Jesus when she decided to use a cross as an accessory…

        • Oh, right, I see now in reference to the Meisel shoot. Anyways, my opinion still stands: Alt’s use of a cross was probably just for the look of it, even an attempt to make the shoot feel and look more genuine. However, the shoot still looks like it was shot in the backlot of some production studio. The styling’s incredible; the photography: a little less.

  3. This is shot for shot a facsimile of a 1989 Steven Meisel spread in Vogue Italia, titled “Cuba.” Only this one has drama-less lighting, a poor casting choice (fontana does va-va-voom, not subtle shades of emotion), wonderful styling, and color-casts to make one bilious.
    A weak imitation, I say.

  5. AMAZING! so much passion between her and the male. it’s believable, which these days we all know is pretty rare with the blank faces and all. nicely done!

  8. All sorts of tacky fabulousness.  I know I probably shouldn’t like it, but I do, especially the blaring colors.

  9. She is unreal! How can someone be that beautiful. I love the neon colors. I love the sexy man. This is my kind of sexy summer.

    • I agree, very good pictures and styling, moreover Isabeli always does well
I love the ‘cuba’ editorial with Linda as much as this one

  10. Carine Roitfeld ‘s editing was sexy, vulgar but still expensive, this just looks trampy. All I like here is clement chaubernaud.

  11. inspired by Linda’s editorial, but much more modern, so i don’t think the 2 editorials can’t be compared.

Isabeli is looking gorgeous, and she’s having a super – mega- moment.  Diva Isabeli!

  13. I think it is a little bit surreal, but I like it indeed! No matter how orange her colour was 😉
It is hot and sexy as it was meant to be like that I think!

  15. I think it’s fabulous besides the fact that she has a lot of shots that look alike! (the eyes closed, head tilted back).  But I like the styling in some of these and the lighting, too!

    Quench Fab

  16. Linda Evangelista could rock that haircut any time of the day, she used to do that fierce little frown with her eyes open, Isabeli unfortunately does not show the same range as Linda did so beautifully. Linda 1- Isabeli 0. 🙁

  17. This is the hottest shoot ever. Hyper saturated colors, crystal blue eyes on that insanely dark tan. She looks gorgeous and the setting and styling really bring out the whole erotic, heat wave theme. Love love love it!
