Modern Marilyn – Lara Stone channels iconic blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, for the January issue of Vogue China. In front of Peter Lindbergh’s lens, Lara takes a cinematic trip with actor Fred Ward in form-fitting dresses and lingerie selected by fashion editor Nicoletta Santoro. Wearing designs from the likes of Marni, Miu Miu and Nina Ricci; the Dutch beauty wows with lush curls by Shon and smokey eyes by Stéphane Marais.
favorite model right now!

Why is everything with a blonde bob “channeling Monroe” *eyeroll*
I love Lara so much that I wish these photographs would die
lindbergh did the same thing this time last year with daria
Lara is hot but there’s no chemistry at all here.. makes for awkward photos.
it feels like they got the “inspiration” of a young beautiful city lady going back to her roots to her older older (eewww) man from Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s September 2011 editorial with Kendra Spears and actor Ben Mendelsohn: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/kendra-spears?before=1315885107
I was thinking of American Vogue January 2011, the one with Daria Werbowy.

the American Vogue does look a bit similar, though that story line seems to be reporter meets mature famous photographer, has a “brief encounter” (ha ha) and leaves. it was a beautiful editorial. 🙂
It’s actually the other way around: That Harper’s editorial was inspired by Peter Lindbergh. Lindbergh here is reference himself. He has shot this story numerous times. And he has earned the right to do so.
Then it isnt creative on either parts. to rehash the same concept is a bit of self plagiarism. but don’t want to go down that slope!
She looks incredible. Love the scenery and the contrast between the older man and younger woman.

Blonde model channeling Marilyn. Mad corny.
I will add that from a technical perspective the photographs are quite nice.
I agree that this shoot could be referencing other fashion shoots, but it really doesn’t matter – magazines like Vogue China or USA will occasionally take a step to the avant-garde but its important they maintain a broad commercial appeal for their readers. This ed is romantic and incredibly polished.
Most of the world doesn’t care at all about fashion but no one could say this isn’t beautiful.
The Von Unwerth/Amber Heard/Guess one was soooo much better.
Peter Lindbergh que grande eres !
Lara is just simply gorgeous! Love her signature gap as well reminds me of Madonna!

Laras so pretty

she’s channeling monroe because the shoot is based off the movie the misfits featuring monroe in a troublesome relationship with aging clark gable
Another blah Lara Stone editorial.
She is absolutely gorgeous but her look is more on the boyish side then Marilyn is. Marilyn had more womenly look.
More BB than Monroe, in my opinion.
lol the last picture: shes dressed like somebody died. and he looks like he just died. :PPP
Stunning!

I love Lara and how she connects with the role she wants to play, her attitude is so charming that just a pose captivates everyone. By the way, there is a cool photographer that is not on the list, and I think she’s a prodigious professional, Tina Patni.
