Moving away from his usual color scheme of moody black and dark gray hues, Alexander Wang brings light and looseness to his spring 2011 collection with the theme of a construction job gone awry. Models walked down the runway with clumps of white in their hair in addition to coveralls and sack dresses covered with splashes of color and metallic. The accessories also replicated the collection’s construction theme–handbags were exchanged for modified tool bags and necklaces consisted of thick chain links. With no black in sight, Wang successfully took his line in a new direction for the spring season and beyond.

  1. Disappointed with this collection… had high expectations πŸ™
Thanks, Joanna, for the excellent coverage of the shows!
I like the large look images and find it easy to scroll through unlike other sites that have all these pop up windows of ads in between… and take ages to load :/

  2. This is just plain horrible. Bedsheets. Thats it. He’s probably laughing his butt off saying “cant believe people buy this crap”. Cathy Horn was right. He is not a good designer. Stick to accessories Wang.

  4. Love some of it. Not all. The dresses were fab. some of them not too chic. but still love A.Wang. He’s a genius in making and experimenting now. Hope for more. His best is still S/S 2010!
